Color Me Impressed!

Tormaline, Tsavorite, Sapphire, and Alexandrite are some of the colored stones we chose for their beauty and rating on the Mohs hardness scale. Much like the people who wear them, they can endure just about everything life throws at them and look good doing it.

Sapphires

Sapphires, a September birthstone, have long been loved for their striking array of colors and surprising durability. Landing a whopping 9 out of 10 on the Mohs hardness scale, we can confidently say this about the Sapphire woman: She’s a tough one with an eye-catching look that just radiates intrigue, adventure, and rebellion. Along with Lab Grown Chatham Pink Champagne Sapphires, we also have lab-grown Chatham Orange Padparascha (available on request), named after the Sri Lankan lotus blossom. No matter what your true colors may be, you can put them on display with a Sapphire.

Tsavorite

A January birthstone, Tsavorite (pronounced Sav-or-ite) is said to be named for Tsavo East National Park in Kenya. While it was found in 1967 in Tanzania, Tiffany made the saturated, lighter-green stone popular in the ‘70s. And we’ll let you in on a little secret: Despite sharing a Mohs hardness of 7.5 with Emeralds, Tsavorites make Emeralds look the B-Team. With more sparkle, better durability, and a lower price tag, Tsavorite is the go-to green goddess. She’s low maintenance, too: Tsavorites don’t require oils or complicated treatments to stay strong and lustrous. They are self-care queens!

Alexandrite

As the June birthstone, Alexandrite honors Geminis with its duality. This versatile babe is deep purple by the bright light of day, but when the lights go down, she shines with deep blue and almost-teal tones. Alexandrite is a multidimensional showstopper just the like the people who wear it! If you really want to capture the kaleidoscope effect of this stone, lab-grown Alexandrite has that down to a science (pun intended). Since it’s also the gemstone associated with 55th wedding anniversaries and has a Mohs hardness of 8.5, Alexandrite is all about going the distance. Get a little Lexi in your life and there will never be a dull moment.

Diamonds

Oh, you know her: The beautiful, sparkling, "nothing quite like it" rare gem that is synonymous with engagement rings. Diamonds are the quintessential stone for go-getters and perfectionists with a classic bent. Formed from heat and compression over billions of years, Diamonds thrive under pressure and show us that beauty is worth waiting for. Remind you of anybody? For those of us who are little less patient and a lot more budget-conscious, Diamonds are still an option thanks to lab-grown stones made of crystallized carbon. And don’t worry; your secret is safe with us: you have to be a trained gemologist to tell the difference between natural Diamonds and their lab-grown sisters.
